We begin with a meeting to discuss your project so we have a general understanding of your personal style and design requirements. Your personal style may be traditional or contemporary, or you may have an appreciation of various elements of each. The projects we do are diverse, varying from the refurbishment or enhancement of a single room to an entire private residence or residential development.
After the initial consultation, we arrange a site visit for a walk-through of your property to get a sense of the space and your lifestyle, or what you’re looking to achieve. We may take a few pictures and basic measurements of the space, or request a set of floor plans, which are useful for producing furniture layouts to ensure that all pieces fit your rooms perfectly.
After the site visit and any further discussion with you, we arrange an appointment for a full presentation of furniture layouts and the design concept.
Furniture layouts would show the proposed placement of furniture and we may offer more than one layout option, depending on the size or structure of the space. The placement of furniture could also determine a lighting layout, the positioning of ceiling fans, power & data outlets, etc., depending on whether this is a new-build or refurbishment project, or how much change you’d actually like to make to your space.
The design concept is normally presented with the use of mood boards to show colour schemes, floor, wall and/or ceiling finishes, any special finishes, a selection of furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories, etc. Kitchen and bathroom fittings may also be presented depending on the scope of your project.
Your feedback at this presentation would allow us to understand and determine your preferences and give us the opportunity to revisit any areas.
Once the furniture layouts and design concept have been finalised, we can then proceed to prepare any specifications and/or working drawings for your contractor, or simply request quotations from the various suppliers towards placing orders to begin your project!
